Muft Bijli Yojana for Residential Welfare Association

The "PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana" is the relevant scheme, and residential societies can participate by installing a large-scale rooftop solar plant and distributing the benefits to their households. The scheme provides subsidies for solar panel installation, allowing residents to get up to 300 units of free electricity per month. For societies, the association or RWA (Resident Welfare Association) can apply, and the Central Financial Assistance (CFA) is calculated based on the total installed capacity and the number of households.

How it works for residential societies:

• Application - The RWA or society's governing body will need to apply for the subsidy through the official portal.
• Vendor Selection - The society can select a vendor from the list of registered vendors on the portal.
• Installation - The solar panels will be installed on the society's rooftop, creating a larger, centralized solar power plant.
• Subsidy Calculation - The Central Financial Assistance (CFA) is provided based on the total capacity installed. For example, an RWA with 20 households installing a 3kW system per household (total 60kW) can be eligible for a CFA of ₹10,80,000, while 50 households installing a 3kW system per household (total 150kW, but capped at 100kW) would be eligible for ₹18,00,000 in CFA.
